HISTORY

In the twenties of the past century, industry needed new insulation techniques.
The insulation expert and businessman, Fritz Kramer, used his experience to found the sole proprietorship "Fritz Kramer" in Grenzach in 1929.
Due to the continual development of the company, the company headquarters were relocated to Rheinfelden in 1936. In the same year, his idea of full cold room construction was turned into reality. The company quickly gained national significance in this special field.

In 1948, Fritz Kramer brought his nephew, Heinz Gass, to Rheinfelden for support. He then founded a branch in Freiburg in 1950.
In 1955 he purchased a plot in the industrial settlement of the north industrial estate. Relocation to the first section of the building with warehouse and office space took place in the same year. The second part of the building, factory and storage hall, was moved into in 1958.
With foundation of the company "Fritz Kramer KG Isolierungen", the Freiburg branch became independent. The headquarters and company administration were relocated to Freiburg in 1960.
By starting production of refrigerated cabinets, the production depth was increased even further.
In the following years, more land was purchased to build production areas and an administration building.

In 1973, operations were split into the companies KRAMER GmbH as an operating company with 150 employees and Fritz Kramer Isolierungen KG as a holding company.

The continuing further development required additional buildings for production and warehouses.
A large order from a natural gas refinery in Scotland (the largest order since foundation of the company at the time) was successfully managed in the years 1983-1985 by Matthias Weckesser. After his return from Scotland, he took over tasks as a member of the management board.
Mr Weckesser was appointed General Manager in 1998.
East Europe was opened up around 1990 offering new opportunities: KRAMER GmbH now has three production sites and several sales offices.
In the field of shopfitting, bakeries and cafes were integrated into business; internationalisation continues.

The company has won several awards for its exception dedication towards professional training for young people.

In 2003, Franz Willi joined the management board as a further General Manager.
After 50 years of successful work, Heinz Gass was able to gradually withdraw from operative management.
At the end of 2009, a pioneering building complex specially developed for KRAMER with a significantly larger area, was moved into Umkirch.
